Freedom of Press?

My interpretation of atomization is the mainstream media having control over peoples ideas and beliefs by broadcasting censored, biased news. In the age of mass media people were "atomized" to the ideas and views of the press, having no other way to recieve input on these beliefs.

The ways and ideals inwhich the media portrays the news can be defined in the model of the "Sphere"
The sphere of consensus is the "motherhood" of politics. These are all the topics in the news that are considered uncontriversal and are so widley agreed upon thats theres almost no room for debate. A media safe-zone.
My interpretation of the sphere of legitimate debate is news that falls in the catagory of two party issues. The media presents this information from both sides, instead of projecting one side as being truthful or right on the matter. They avoid direct responability by using "he said, she said" journalism.
In the sphere of deviance falls the news this is considered, by the Mass Media, to be unacceptable, radical, or impossible. This is where censorship comes into play. The press plays the role of excluding these "deviant" views from the public agenda. Ultimately this side of the news doesnt get any positive representation at all! Anyone whos views lie in this catagory would most likely consider the media to be savagly biased.

With modern day technology advancing it is becoming less expensive for any class of people to access unbiased, unaltered facts and opinions through the internet. The mass media is losing atomization over the public with every new blogger who discovers true freedom of press.
